Quiet

Well, sorry it's been a quiet week on the blog. Trust me, it has not been a quiet week around here! Summer is officialy here in the Witherington household. Sunday was Grady's end of the year choir performance at church. He had a blast up there and sang his heart out.
"Why oh why do we praise the Lord? Cause it says so in His word!" (bottom row, right corner in yellow)
Then Tuesday was his last day of school with his little 3 year old class and his teachers, Mrs. Gonto and Mrs. Phillips. I was able to go and help with the party and they all really had a great time.

Davis had his first speech therapy session Thursday and it went great. God truly is amazing in all things. Krista goes to our church and just so happens to be a speech therapist. Her son, Jack, the little boy in blue above, is one of Grady's good buddies from school and church. It was so cool to see her work with Davis and see how proud of himself he was when he was able to say words correctly. Truly a special moment. She will come once a week from now on.
Friday we had a relaxing morning and then jumped from one activity to another, but I thought you would enjoy Davis' morning stance!
Lastly, I will leave you with this. I was reading a blog feed the other day that I get via email and it really spoke to me so I thought I would share:

People do not drift toward Holiness.
Apart from grace-driven effort, people do not gravitate toward godliness, prayer, obedience to Scripture, faith, and delight in the Lord.
We drift toward compromise and call it tolerance; we drift toward disobedience and call it freedom. We cherish the indiscipline of lost self-control and call it relaxation.
(For the Love of God, Volume 2, paragraphing mine, by D.A. Carson)
I pray that we would strive for Holiness each day, even though it is going against the flow. I know that is what our Creator would want. Love to you all!

Dandelions

Hey there! Hope you all are enjoying this beautiful Sunday. I am going to be dedicating one story a week about my boys to a new section on the blog called WeeklyAdventures. It should be up and running soon, but in the meantime I figured I would go ahead and post my first story. Both of my boys have always loved the book I Am a Bunny by Richard Scarry
It is a precious classic and when we get to the page that reads, "I blow the dandelion seeds into the air," I always blow and they do it with me. It was one of those special moments on Friday that I will never forget. I took them to my grandmother's farm and there in the dandelion field they finally got to really blow the dandelion seeds into the air! What a blessing these two little men are and I absolutely love watching them experience the beauty of God's world!

Goals...10K Victory!

One thing is for certain about me and that is that I'm goal oriented! I'm also a perfectionistic planner which can definitely be a huge pain in the beehind when working towards a goal. I recently decided I wanted to run a 10K in under 52 minutes. My friend Alyssa helped me come up with a plan.
First she used this pace chart to help me to see what my per mile pace would need to be to reach my goal. Then I used this 8 week Advanced 10K training plan and went to work. I have to train inside a lot on a treadmill so i used a chart like this one to be able to know how fast on the treadmill to go. Okay so enough details. I trained, Alyssa ran it with me, and I finished in 51:24!!!!!! Chris brought the boys down to cheer me on at the finish. I don't think there is a better feeling than coming around a corner and seeing them all shouting and smiling. I absolutely love reaching goals. Sometimes to reach a goal, you have to go outside the box, choose a different path or scratch your entire plan all together and establish a new one. I love running because it has been something that I can set a goal, and with the help of a well laid out plan, follow it, and reach the goal. I wish more things in my life were that black and white! In my devotional the other day it said, "Your failures can be a source of blessing, humbling you and giving you empathy for other people in their weaknesses." What an eye opener for me. I truly HATE to fail or feel like I have let anyone down, but it is so true that in our moments of defeat, we are humbled to ourselves and drawn to the feet of our Master. This world is getting so "gray" and I am so saddened sometimes when i turn on the news, open a paper, or even walk around downtown Savannah...but then I hear these words clanging in my ears:
"Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 3:13-14)
I pray you all have a great weekend and that our focus would be on Him and His desires instead of our own!

One more thing..........Chris got us a Cannon Rebel camera and boy oh boy am I excited to have a new hobby. I promise lots and lots of pictures to come! :) Plus I am starting a blog for my grandmother's organic farm Heritage Organic Farm and will have more on that too very soon.

Motherhood

"Every good and perfect gift is from above." - James 1:17
Well, I wish I had some grand original words to say about Motherhood but I truly believe that they have already been said. I will just say this...I feel blessed beyond measure for my two sons who God gave me to make me a mother. Just as the saying goes, "There's nothing like it!" I will never forget the day Grady was born and the feeling of being a mother for the first time. Knowing that precious life had grown inside me and was given to me and Chris as a special gift from God. No words can truly describe it. Thank you Lord!
Grady 5 days old!                                                     Davis on his actual birthday!

I am so thankful for my mom who is such an incredible spiritual role model in my life. I love her so much and didn't really understand the blood, sweat and tears that go into it until i had children of my own. She continues to amaze me every day and I truly adore her.

I am so grateful for my wonderful mother-in-law. So many girls struggle with this relationship but God has truly blessed me in this department! I love her so much and am thankful for all the love, encouragement and help she gives each week.

I hope every mother has a wonderful Mother's Day! They honestly deserve to be honored!
Love,

Muddy Days

Last week we went with my dad to one of his work sites where there was one of pretty much every large machine a boy could ever wish to see. Thank goodness i planned ahead with jugs of water in the back of the car and spare clothes because they were covered in MUD! Every little boys dream I am sure!

A Good Laugh

I went to the intro class for Bible Study Fellowship today. It starts in the fall but today was their wrap up from this year. They have been studying Isaiah and I was amazed at what God had for me in that short time this morning. #1 God desires a responsive heart! We make the choice daily as to how we will respond to Him. #2 All that keeps me from renewal with God is my own stubbornness and #3 Chapter 1:9 says, "If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the best from the land." This sounds pretty simple right? Willing and Obedient to our Almighty Creator, but boy oh boy, is it harder than it sounds. I am really looking forward to going back in September.

Now, i don't know about you but I can always use a good laugh. Children always seem to provide this!
I setup a baby pool in the backyard the other day and the boys loved sliding into it. Davis had on big boy undies and he thought he was awesome!
Here is Davis showing off his manly physique
And Grady having a blast on the slide
Then they of course decided it needed more water!
Hope found a turtle AGAIN and i put it back in the neighbors yard so the boys were looking through the fence trying to see it. Such a precious moment in time.
Love y'all!
